Paul Stayback
Paul Stayback has been a licensed mental health clinician since 2016. He has a Masters of Social Work from the University of Washington, and is an LICSW. Paul has worked in community mental health with children, and in private practice with adult and adolescent males age 13+. He has also been a case worker in Child Protective Services, a Disabled Veterans Case Manager at WorkSource, and in the King County Veterans Program. He has been a law enforcement embedded social worker and a Mental Health Probation Specialist in King County’s Veterans and Mental Health Court. Currently, his practice focuses on veterans, law enforcement, first responders, people employed in sensitive or highly scrutinized positions, and males ages 13+. He is also a Firearms Culturally Competent Trained clinician through the Walk The Talk America.
Paul served in the Army reserves and Regular Army as a surgical tech and medic. As a veteran, he knows what it is like to try and access services through the VA, as well as the barriers and judgement that can vets face in the community. That is why he has sought to serve his brothers and sister who have service, and give them the best support that he knows how, and making sure that they don’t feel that they need to explain anything.
Paul’s approach to counseling begins with meeting the client where they are at. At that point, he works with the client to provide an agreed upon course of action to get the veteran to where they want to be and have them define their success. This course of action may include employing EMDR, CBT, Solution Focused Counseling, or a more prescribed, curriculum based approach.
In-Person and Telehealth (after meeting in-person) appointments available.
