As we gather to observe Memorial Day and enjoy the 3-day weekend, Let us take a moment to reflect on the significance of this important day. Memorial Day is a time to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country.
As we serve the veterans community, we have a special responsibility to remember and honor these heroes. Our mission is “Serving Those Who Served.” It is our honor to acknowledge their sacrifice by living up to the ideals they fought to defend.
We must also remember the families and loved ones of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. They too have given so much to our country, and we owe them our deepest gratitude and respect.
On this Memorial Day, let us rededicate ourselves to the important work we do every day at your WDVA. Let us honor the memory of those who have given their lives for our country, let us continue to serve, and care for those who have served our nation with honor and distinction.

In addition, for those of you in the Olympia area, there will be a Memorials Walk beginning at 9:30. The Northwest Paralyzed Veterans of America have graciously purchased wreaths for each of the Memorials on the Capitol Campus. We will begin our walk at 9:30 at the WWII Memorial and wind our way through the campus ending at the Korean War Memorial. The annual ceremony in the Capitol Rotunda will begin at 10:30 and there will be a Rolling Thunder Run to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial around noon with a ceremony beginning at 12:20. WDVA will also have an outreach table at this event.
