(Centralia Washington, April 2020) As part of the Veterans in Agriculture pilot program funded by the Federal VA Farms grant, Washington Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA) in partnership with VETC is  providing Mental Health Awareness and Suicide Gatekeeper training. This is in conjunction with networking for Veterans in come of the states regions most impacted rural health needs. Recognizing the vital role rural producers play in sustaining our Nation, and the need for increased awareness and access, WDVA has begun partnerships with half a dozen rural agriculture focused non profit organizations across Washington to provide Mental Health Awareness and Suicide Gatekeeper Trainings and Networking Sessions meant to provide up-to-date and actionable paths to mitigating the stresses faced by our nations farmer veterans.

 

Partnering with The Veterans’ Ecological Trades Collective, 501c3 (VETC) located near Grand Mound, WA, WDVA will be providing Mental Health Awareness and Suicide Gatekeeper Trainings hosted by American Legion Grant Hodge Post 17 in Centralia, Wasington. This training will cover how to recognize Mental Health patterns which can negatively impact rural veterans. WDVA will provide resources and networking opportunities intended to assist providers, caretakers, family members, and friends who work to mitigate and reverse the regional trends of mental health concerns and suicide. Addressing untreated PTSD, Military Sexual Trauma (MST), and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), this session will provide a solid launch point for all community members and a includes a great networking opportunity for professionals.

 

VETS_CAFE, a partner to VETC, will provide a light lunch. Please join us for a day of learning, networking and community as we serve those who served.
