MEDIA RELEASE - Community Invited to Honor Vietnam Veterans at State Capitol - March 30 - 12PM - Vietnam Veterans Memorial

Washington State Department of Veterans Affairs News Release

March 28, 2023

Olympia:  Vietnam Veterans, their Families, and the public are invited to attend a Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Celebration on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at 12:00 PM.  The ceremony will be held at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial on the Capitol Campus.

Following the ceremony, which includes a Color Guard and speakers, Vietnam Veterans will be presented with commemorative pins from the Vietnam War Commemoration Committee.  Spouses of Vietnam Veterans will also be presented with Veteran Supporter pins.

“I’m proud that here in Washington, our legislative leaders passed a law in 2013 that recognizes March 30th, as Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day,” said David Puente, WDVA Director. “While there is a National Vietnam Veterans Day on March 29th, our state also commemorates the day Vietnam Veterans came home.”

Join your community and help “Welcome Home” and support Vietnam Veterans and their Families.  As always, we encourage Active Duty service members, community members, Veterans, and their families to come out to the event and support their fellow veterans.

This is an outdoor ceremony so please plan for the weather.
