VCC: A Legacy of Service and Healing
About
Founded in 2005 in honor of Vietnam-era veteran John Beal, the VCC was created to provide veterans like John with a healing mission—restoring Hamm Creek and the Duwamish River. Today, the VCC continues this mission across Washington, offering veterans an opportunity to connect with nature, build helpful skills, and make a real difference in their communities.

For Partners: Working Together to Connect, Heal, and Strengthen Veterans and Communities
The Veterans Conservation Corps partners with conservation districts, local governments, and environmental and agricultural organizations to create meaningful internships for veterans to engage in hands-on environmental conservation and sustainable agriculture while receiving the support and resources they need for personal growth and well-being.
What We Do
- Provide Paid Internships for Veterans: Hands-on opportunities in environmental conservation and sustainable agriculture that build skills, confidence, and well-being.
- Support Healthy Communities: Veterans contribute to projects that restore natural lands, waters, and ecosystems, strengthening communities and local partnerships.
- Offer Specialized Training and Resources: Equip veterans with guidance and tools to navigate civilian life successfully.
Since its founding in 2005, VCC has grown into a trusted program that fosters lasting relationships between veterans, communities, and partner organizations. As we grow and evolve, we welcome new partnerships! VCC interns contribute directly to organizational efforts, and in turn, partner organizations advance their missions, communities benefit from strengthened relationships and shared efforts, and natural ecosystems are cared for—creating a layered, interconnected impact that benefits individual veterans, organizations, communities, and the environment.
How Your Organization Can Get Involved:
