Welcome and thank you for your service, we are here to serve you with the respect and dignity you deserve. We strive to create an environment where all are able to live their life authentically; feeling safe, supported, and empowered free from discriminatory policies and practices.
Your Washington Department of Veterans Affairs is committed to a diverse workforce, and an inclusive workspace and understands that diversity and inclusion are essential for delivering the best service to Washington State’s veterans. The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer+ (LGBTQ+) community is a vital facet of our veteran population. Each day we are advocating, celebrating diversity, and promoting inclusion and equal protection.
Robin, your LGBTQ+ Veterans Outreach Coordinator, is here to help with:
- connecting lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer+ veterans to their earned benefits, services, programs, resources, and information in order to promote the economic security and financial stability of veterans, and their spouses and dependents;
- assisting with the upgrade of discharge status, including if you were given an other-than-honorable discharge under the Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy;
- working to build a strong community of LGBTQ+ veterans and allies in Washington; and
- helping shape Washington laws for the LGBTQ+ and veteran communities through advocacy and direct recommendations to the Legislature.
Please take a moment to hear Robin share about this incredible program and the work she is doing for the LGBTQ+ Veteran Community.
